I'm sorry but I really didn't know which thread to post this on, so I'm posting it here. If this is the wrong place, many apologies.

Anyway...

Using 3dsMax 9 and Brazil I am rendering ssitruc's garage scene. When I do the render, the Brazil reflections are too overpowering. In other words the "wax" look is way too bright and shiny and it's drowning out the lettering.
The item in the selection box of the scene that controls this is called "whitebox". I did a render without it but then there was no shiny wax look at all.

Does someone here know how and where in the program I can "reduce" the amount of this bright wax shine?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks alot.

Cheers!!!

Open the material editor, and load the "Whitebox" material from the scene into a bubble.
Select that bubble, under the Basic Parameters section you woll see a button for "Output". Select that button. Expand the "Output" section if it's not already expanded, lexperiment with the values of "Output Amount".

Another way to reduce it, is by simply reducing the "Reflect" value of your paint material.

Your paint material is most likely the culprit as the standard whitebox material setting has been used by many people for many years without too much wash=out occuring.

Thanks loads. I will try that.

Cheers!!!

**UPDATE** BINGO!!! It worked. I tried to turn down the reflection but that didn't work. Maybe because this scene was not made with 3dsMax 9 which is what I have. The bubbles don't even show up.

So after playing around a bit, I changed the output amount from "1.0" to "0.4". Perfect...

Thanks alot Keith. You are the man! Have several on me.

Cheers!!!
